Press Release

The Morgantown Police Department will be altering traffic patterns on Saturday, July 28, 2012, for the MountainFest Motorcycle Rally Parade.

On Saturday, July 28th, the parade will take place at 1:00 p.m. This year’s parade route will start with the motorcycle motorcade at the WVU Coliseum, which will travel south on Monongahela Boulevard towards downtown Morgantown. The motorcade will travel up Campus Drive and turn right onto University Avenue into the “loop.”   The motorcade will then progress past the Mountainlair and join the normal parade assembly, which will be staged on North High Street.  The normal parade route down High Street will then be followed.

Traffic in the downtown area will be restricted during the parade.  The Spruce Street Parking Garage will not be open for parking. Traffic will not be permitted to enter the downtown area during the parade by way of the Walnut Street Bridge or the Pleasant Street Bridge.  Traffic traveling towards the downtown area on Willey Street will be detoured off of Willey Street to Prospect Street and restricted at University Avenue and Willey Street.  Motorists entering the downtown area from Beechurst Avenue will be delayed during the parade.

Following the Parade procession, High Street will remain closed from Walnut Street to Pleasant Street for the MountainFest Street Fair festivities until 6:00 pm.

Traffic patterns will be returned to normal as soon as possible following the street fair.  Parade spectators are urged to arrive downtown early to allow ample time for parking.
