City Council Committee of the Whole Meeting Time Changed for February 28, 2012 Meeting

MORGANTOWN – The Morgantown City Council would like to remind residents that this upcoming Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting will begin at 5 p.m. sharp, rather than the regular time of 7:00 p.m.  It recognizes that the West Virginia Mountaineers will be playing a basketball game at home, and wants to make sure those who want to attend the meeting can do so.

Committee of the Whole meetings are intended to give Council an opportunity to get information, ask questions, and discuss options in an informal setting.  No official action is taken, but they do have several items on the agenda for discussion, including:

–          Bond refinancing options for the Public Safety Building, which could save the city more than $200,000

–          Solid Waste franchise agreement considerations to expand recycling efforts within the City

–          The Grumbien’s Island Improvement Program for the crosswalk area in front of the Mountain Lair

–          And budget considerations for next year, like a Budgeting 101 Workshop and mid-year budget adjustment requirements.

The next Committee of the Whole meeting will return to the regularly scheduled time of 7:00 p.m.

You can find the agenda after 4 p.m. Friday, February 24 at http://morgantown.com/council-docs.htm.

If you have questions, please contact City Clerk Linda Little at her office, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  The number there is (304) 284-7434.
